If you’ve been thinking about university but not sure about committing to a full degree, you can now try a six-month, subsidised introductory course.
New ‘Undergraduate Certificates’ in Engineering, Aged Care and Public Health are on offer through Uni Hub’s partners, Flinders University and CQ University, commencing in July.
Uni Hub Spencer Gulf CEO, Anita Crisp, said the courses were a new initiative of the Commonwealth Government and would be supported locally through the Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Copper Coast study centres.
“The Undergraduate Certificates cover four first-year university subjects and gives students a pathway into the full degrees and credit for the subjects completed, should they decide to continue,” explained Ms Crisp.
“They are a great introduction to university and ideal if you are interested in pursuing a career in this field, but want to try it out first. Even if students decide not to continue, they will still receive recognition for the initial course of study.”
Upper Spencer Gulf residents enrolling in July 2021 to start the six-month courses can also benefit financially, with a range of subsidies and scholarships available, covering up to the full cost of the student fee.
“The scholarships and subsidies are only available for the July 2021 intake, so we’d really encourage people to get in fast,” Ms Crisp said.
