The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is designed to develop your skills and enable you to combine an understanding of engineering concepts with modern technology. Choose between major options, allowing you to pursue a career as an Engineering Technologist in traditional engineering disciplines or an aircraft maintenance engineer.

Prerequisites
English, General Maths.

Recommended Study
Mathematical Methods. Physics and Design.

Core subjects
You are required to complete three core units and 17 or 19 specialist units in your choice of major.

Specialisations
You can choose from five majors including Aircraft Maintenance – Avionics major,
Aircraft Maintenance – Mechanical major, Civil major, Electrical major and Mechanical major.

Within the Civil major, you choose either a Structural Stream or Municipal and Transportation Stream.

Within the Electrical major, you choose either a Electrical Power Stream or Electrical Control Stream.

Within the Mechanical major, you either a Design Stream or an Energy Stream.

Residential Schools
Online students of this course will be required to attend compulsory residential schools in some units. Students are advised to check unit details to determine whether a unit has a residential component prior to enrolling.

Work integrated learning
To be eligible for graduation, vou must complete 360 hours of Professional Engineering Practice, including a minimum of 240 hours of industry experience. Mandatory work experience is set by the course accreditation body Engineers Australia.

 

SUMMARY

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is a versatile degree with options to major in traditional
engineering disciplines or pursue a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer through completion of the aircraft maintenance (avionics) major.

Choosing the civil, electrical or mechanical majors allows vou to build in-depth knowledge of engineering concepts and be highly trained in software, simulating modelling and the ability to assist engineers with the technology design and systems management in an engineering project.
