Uni Hub Spencer Gulf’s Port Lincoln University Centre is one step closer with the appointment of Cate Wuttke to the role of Student and Campus Coordinator.
Cate is a familiar face to the region, living most of her life on the Eyre Peninsula. Most recently she has worked at St Joseph’s School in Port Lincoln, where she has worked for a number of years in various roles to support staff, students and their families.
She also spent some time at Leigh Creek, working at the local school to support senior students navigate the online world of Open Access subjects.
“I love the Eyre Peninsula – the communities are at its heart and give it its strength,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to my new role with Uni Hub Spencer Gulf and what it will mean for our region.”
Cate’s appointment to the Uni Hub role is thanks to the Federal Government’s Regional University Centres program, which aims to remove barriers for regional and remote students to access quality education opportunities.
The Uni Hub’s Port Lincoln University Centre was one of eight new centres announced by the Federal Government earlier this year. It will be the fifth study centre for Uni Hub Spencer Gulf with existing locations including Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Kadina and Roxby Downs.
The Port Lincoln University Centre will allow the Uni Hub to support local community members to study university locally and work with local industries to address skill shortages.
“The Uni Hub will give adults, young and old, a chance to achieve their tertiary dreams that they thought were not possible unless they left the area. I am looking forward to helping those dreams be a reality,” Cate said.
The Port Lincoln University Centre will open its doors in 2023 and will be located at the former ‘manse’ building on the corner of Hallett and Adelaide Place.
The study centre will be available at no cost to any student studying with an Australian University and will offer comfortable study spaces, secure wi-fi, text books and kitchen facilities.
Applications are now open for 2023 enrolment with Uni Hub Spencer Gulf’s university partners. For more information, contact Cate on 0493 499 400.
