Uni Hub Spencer Gulf has been busy visiting secondary schools across the region, helping senior students navigate subject selections and plan for life after school.

Through presentations and one-on-one conversations, the Uni Hub team has spoken with Year 10 and 11 students about how their subject choices can influence future study options, while Year 12s have been exploring university pathways, training opportunities and careers available locally.

The visits have also been complemented by schools bringing groups of students into Uni Hub’s university centres, giving them a firsthand look at the study spaces and support available close to home.

“These school visits are about showing students that the choices they make now can open doors to future careers,” Uni Hub Spencer Gulf School Engagement Officer Sam Amato said.

“We want them to see that they don’t have to leave their community to access higher education – there are real options available here.”

Ms Amato said many students were surprised to learn just how many degrees can be studied locally through Uni Hub’s partnerships with universities.

“Whether it’s nursing, teaching, social work, business or engineering, students can start or complete their degree right here with local support,” she said.

“That means they can stay connected to their families, their schools and their communities while building their future.”

The Uni Hub visits also provided Year 12 students with practical advice on making the transition from school to further study.

“Finishing school is exciting but can also feel overwhelming,” Ms Amato said.

“We’re here to guide students through applications and show them that they’ll be supported every step of the way.”
