Uni Hub Spencer Gulf psychological science student Rebecca Balmer has been recognised for her high academic achievement by CQ University.

Rebecca recently received a Letter of Merit from the University’s School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences, acknowledging her achievement of a High Distinction in the subject ‘Psychology for Everyday Life’.

Rebecca said much of her success was due to the assistance provided by the Uni Hub, and the ability to study locally with a support network of family and friends.

“I actually went to uni in Adelaide back in 2012 but stopped because it just wasn’t for me and the experience was made more difficult because I was away from family and friends,” she said.

“When the Uni Hub started in Port Pirie last year and I found out what it was all about, I decided to give university another go. Being able to study at home with support from family, friends and the Uni Hub has made the experience much easier and enjoyable.”

“I love the fact that as a student you always get emails and text messages from the Uni Hub to make sure you are okay and when you walk into the building everyone knows you by name.”

Uni Hub Chief Executive Officer Anita Crisp said Rebecca’s achievement is testament of her hard work.

“There is a significant level of commitment required to reach this level of academic performance – Rebecca should be very proud of her achievement,” Ms Crisp said.
