Meet our Copper Coast student ambassador, Taylor Trembath.

Taylor began her Bachelor of Nursing with CQU in July 2020. She was encouraged by her Nanna to consider study through Uni Hub Spencer Gulf.

“I have been working in aged care for six years and I wanted to study university, but I couldn’t travel to Adelaide all the time – it is a bit hard with a toddler,” she said.

“Studying at the Uni Hub is convenient. It is close by and it is a quiet place to study.

“It is helpful having the tutors on hand and it is great having Sue (campus coordinator) available – she is only a phone call away.”

Uni Hub’s Student Ambassador Program is a new initiative that aims to provide current students with a leadership role to develop a congenial and supportive student network within the campus and represent Uni Hub in the community through various events.

Taylor said becoming a student ambassador was a natural progression for her as she was already speaking to people she knew about the Uni Hub and helping other students at the Copper Coast campus.

“It’s good having other people to talk to about your study experiences – we talk about how to cope with study and how to factor in things like shift work or family,” she said.

“I would encourage anyone thinking about studying at university to seriously consider the Uni Hub – they are great at helping you find a pathway into what you want to do.”

Campus coordinator Sue Barry said the Student Ambassador role was pivotal in a student’s progression in the workplace, particularly those with leadership aspirations.

“Taylor’s support of fellow students has been invaluable in helping them navigate their way around online university learning as well as providing them with practical solutions of juggling study, work and life commitments,” she said.

“Taylor’s commitment to her role as Student Ambassador for the Uni Hub is evident in her willingness to share her inspirational story and the steps she has taken to reach her goals.”

Taylor’s appointment was recognised by a special presentation by Copper Coast Council mayor Roslyn Talbot earlier this week.
