Uni Hub Nursing students and local health network representatives had the chance to meet with CQU’s Professor Moira Williamson, Dean, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences last week at Port Pirie’s Uni Hub campus.
Professor Williamson was accompanied by Professor Sally Ferguson, Director of CQU’s Appleton Institute.
Uni Hub Spencer Gulf student services coordinator Kim Gregory said Professor Williamson’s visit was a rare chance for local students to speak directly with the Dean of the School of Nursing.
“We are extremely grateful for Professor Williamson taking time out of her busy schedule to spend some time with CQU nursing students studying through the Uni Hub,” Ms Gregory said.
“Professor Williamson provided our students with some invaluable advice about their study and their career path options.
“It is such a privilege to have the Dean of the School of Nursing visit us here in Port Pirie. It is not often that university students get the chance to interact with the Dean, so our Nursing students took full advantage of this visit.”
The day also allowed students to share stories about their studies and network with each other and representatives from the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network.
“These sorts of events also allow our students to meet and speak with local employers – to find out what opportunities there are locally for a career in nursing,” Ms Gregory said.
