Uni Hub Spencer Gulf is partnering with local councils, businesses and industry to deliver a wide range of cadetship and internship opportunities – giving local people the chance to study for a degree while gaining paid, hands-on work in their chosen field.

The program is designed to help tackle skill shortages in the region, with opportunities available in health, early childhood education, business, accounting, law, engineering, surveying and urban and regional planning.

“Cadetships and internships are about more than just study. They’re about building a skilled workforce for the future of our region,” Uni Hub Spencer Gulf CEO Anita Kuss said.

“Students are able to earn while they learn, develop strong industry connections and contribute their skills locally.”

The program is delivered in partnership with Uni Hub’s university partners – including Flinders University, CQUniversity, the University of Southern Queensland and the University of New England – alongside host employers such as local health networks, councils and businesses.

“We’re extremely grateful to the industry partners who are part of this initiative,” Ms Kuss said.

“They can see the value of investing in local people, and they recognise that supporting students now means securing the skilled professionals their organisations and our region will need into the future.

“Every cadetship or internship filled locally is one more step towards addressing critical skill shortages. It’s about growing our own and ensuring our region has the professionals it needs.”

People interested in applying are encouraged to contact their local Uni Hub for more information.
